I serve as the presiding judge of Probate Court No. 2. I've presided over five (5) jury trials, ten (10) bench trials, over one hundred (100) guardianship bench trials, and 7,560 uncontested probate cases. We set five trials on each of our two-week trial dockets. I maintain the integrity and order of the court by adhering to the rule of law, judicial canons, proper court procedure, and preparing for hearings and trials by reading all pleadings and related statutes and case law. I'm impartial in my rulings and ensure fair treatment of all parties regardless of their background. Previous endorsements include 16 organizations and all 3 legal associations that endorse in judicial races. Texas Bar College; Guardian/Ad Litem Certification.
Often, generational transfer of wealth will not pass properly without an understanding of the importance of estate planning and what matters the probate courts preside over. Networks need to be strong between the courts, community resources, and the citizens. I have addressed this need by speaking at various civic, senior, veteran, union, church, and social groups on what types of cases our probate courts preside over. I will continue to make these presentations.
The ever-increasing population growth in our county must be assessed to ensure the courts are properly meeting the needs of the people of Harris County. The courts will need to provide proper documentation of case-filing metrics to support the ongoing assessment.
